Tools for Reading and Organizing Commercial Vehicle Permits

A tool can deliver a PDF without interpreting it. It can extract fields without organizing a fleet's documents. It can draw a proposed route without authorizing that route. Keeping those capabilities separate makes a software trial much more useful.

Products to investigate
Oversize.io and ProMiles PermitManager document ordering-related workflows. Digital Permit Book and ProMiles eCredentials describe document organization and delivery.
PC*Miler describes commercial routing and mileage. ProMiles Permit Route Guidance documents a driver workflow using a supported permit identifier. Check the particular edition, integration and agency involved.
Vendor pages change. We avoid fixed competitor prices and categorical “No” claims where the documentation merely does not mention a feature.
JaloPermit's current scope
JaloPermit helps a driver review supported text-based permit PDFs. The result card organizes extracted dimensions, route information, escort conditions and restrictions. Completed cards provide Original permit PDF to reopen a retained upload alongside that summary.
It does not support image-only scans or promise every state's every layout. Route resolution varies; warnings and dashed sections need review. The issued permit is the sole route authority.
It also does not provide a secure fleet library with folders, roles and expiry reminders. Recent permits live in the current browser's short list. That is not a promise of zero server storage: processing records and original uploads can be retained, as explained in the privacy notice.
Supplementary bridge and roadside information is not comprehensive. No alert does not mean no hazard, and a clearance value does not certify bridge weight capacity.
A small evaluation that answers real questions
Choose documents you are authorized to share, or request synthetic demonstrations. Include a permit with attachments, one with an amendment and one with an unfamiliar layout.
Check retrieval on a phone, the original document's accessibility, handling of a missing field, route uncertainty, document versions and any offline claims. For a paid system, also test export and access removal. Note each unresolved question instead of counting it as a pass.

FAQs
Is reading a permit the same as managing permits? No. Reading concerns information inside a document; management concerns finding, assigning and maintaining records. A product may offer both, but each needs evaluation.
Can an image-only scan be used in JaloPermit? It needs a supported original PDF with readable text. A photograph or image-only scan is not supported.
Does a map make the permit unnecessary? No. Keep the issued permit and required attachments. Neither a review card nor a proposed route can amend the authorized route.
What should I use for a fleet? Start with the fleet workflow: assignments, versions, expiry, access and roadside retrieval. Demonstrate those requirements before choosing a document-management product.
